Since its inception in 2021 at Altiro Latin Fusion’s Wheaton location, Frida Destination festival has blossomed into a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and community. Hosted by Erika Villanueva, co-owner of Altiro group, the festival pays homage to the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, immersing attendees in her rich world of creativity and resilience.
Over the years, Frida Destination has expanded to Altiro’s Geneva, Aurora, and Plainfield locations, each event offering a unique tapestry of experiences. Festival-goers are treated to live mariachi performances, folkloric dancers, artisanal markets, face painting, and a variety of Frida-themed activities. A highlight for many is the margarita tasting, featuring an array of flavors.
A standout feature of the festival is the collaboration with Mexican holywood artist Ricardo Soltero, whose towering sculptures of Frida Kahlo and other cultural icons have become central attractions, captivating visitors and providing perfect photo opportunities .

Internationally renowned Hollywood artist Ricardo Soltero will transform the space with large-scale outdoor sculptures, including a replica of Frida Kahlo’s house.
